Word crashes during print with {PRINT \p pic}

I'm trying to use a PRINT field to capture the rectangle for the next
picture in the paragraph, but Word crashes when I print.

If no picture appears later in the same paragraph as the PRINT field, Word
does not crash; but if a picture is present, Word will crash. Of course, you
have to print to a PostScript printer driver. I've tried both the Adobe PDF
driver as well as an HP LaserJet 2300. Word 2000, 2002, and 2003 all crash;
Word 97 appears to ignore PRINT fields.

I'm aware of the documentation at
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HP051861821033.aspx but it
doesn't say much about "\p pic" other than that it applies to the next
picture in the paragraph. Capturing the rectangle of the current paragraph
via "\p para" seems to work fine, as long as the paragraph is large enough
(more than 1" tall).

VS.NET 2008 Crashes With Web Application Projects
1 replies , 7/14/2008, 4:49:05 PM
I am using VS.NET 2008 on Vista Business 64. We use TFS 2005 SP1 running on Win2003 Server. When I attempt to add a Web Application Project to source control, Visual Studio crashes. Here is the event log: Faulting application devenv.exe, version 9.0.21022.8, time stamp 0x47317b3d, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time stamp 0x4791a81d, exception code 0xe053534f, fault offset 0x0002f35f, process id 0xae0, application start time 0x01c8e5ce68599be4. I have been able to reproduce this on multiple machines. This is preventing our adoption of VS.NET 2008 as we almost exclusively use Web Application Projects as apposed to Web Site Projects. VS.NET does not crash when adding other types of projects.

Font crashing
2 replies , 11/12/2004, 11:29:42 PM
Threads show font problems are ordinary issues. Here's mine. I have just installed Office 2004 on my Mac G4, 1.5 meg RAM, 1 gig free space, OS 10.3.5. The font menu does not drop down. I can access the fonts thru 'format'. The font menu avaible in the formatting palette does drop down, but the display is either double printed, or as I scroll down, replaced by grayed out areas. If I continue to scroll to the bottom of the list, Word quits. I'm a writer and an unstable Word is a catasrophe. Thanks.

While using Entourage 2004 11.2.1 under Mac OS X 10.4 it crashes when I attempted to print calendar details. If the print preview is on it immediately crashes. If I disable the print preview it crashes once I hit print. Any ideas? Thanks, Monty

Excel crashes

I'm running Excel 2003 and I'm working on fairly complex worksheet using arrays with various formulas. The program is starting to become unstable. One of the arrays, when entered, causes the program to unexpectedly quit and then ask me if I want to send an error report to Microsoft. I'm not using any charting, macros, databases, etc. Here's the formula that's causing the crash: =SUMPRODUCT(Port._1*TRANSPOSE(INDIRECT($B44))) Port._1 is the name of a cell range. I can't seem to locate anything in the MS knowledgebase. I've replicated the problem on different computers, so I know it's not isolated to my computer. I've also installed all my Office '03 updates. Anyone got a clue? Thanks in advance. Robert Ades ___________________________ Robert Ades Accountancy Corp. 12100 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 660 Los Angeles, CA 90025 Tel: 310-571-1224 Fax: 310-571-1227

2007 compatibility mode crash

Excel 2003 .xls file format crashes in 2007compatibility mode when I use the comboboxes. If I convert to the new .xlsm file format, macros are disabled, even when I allow all macros to run in the Trust Center Settings and allow all Active X controls to run. If I try to look at the properties of the combo boxes they have none as if they were lost when the file was converted. There appears to be no way to use my file in compatibility mode or to convert it successfully.

Powerpoint 2007 crashes on closing

I am using the 30 day trial of Powerpoint 2007. It has been working fine until yesterday when it started crashing when I closed it. I get that popup box about send/don't send an error report and there is a checkbox asking if I want to restart PP. I ran the diagnostists several times and each time it said I had to download and install an Epson printer driver. I did that but it did not fix the problem. I am running XP Pro on this computer if that matters at all. Can anyone help with this?

Hi, I have Office 2004 and I can't install it on my new MacBook, because it has run out of license (5 total). Excel Crashing
0 replies , 3/16/2009, 12:49:34 PM
Hi All, Hoping someone can help me ... I am getting an Excel crash on numerous PCs - all Windows XP SP2 with Office 2003 SP3. All patches for Windows and Office are installed. each has exactly the same error "Faulting application excel.exe, version 11.0.8237.0, stamp 48eff43b, faulting module mso.dll, version 11.0.8221.0, stamp 483c699a, debug? 0, fault address 0x002d9798" although the fault address does change ( 0x000d8d11, 0x7470b439). I have seen several other posts around the web of this error, but no solution. Can anyone advise? or should I open a case with PSS? Thanks Wayne

Using the OCT we have enabled "Disable customer-submitted templates downloads from Office Online". This can be found under: "Microsoft Office 2007 system-Tools|Options|General|Web Options..." When you click the Office Button-New-Installed Templates, both Word and Excel will crash. When you disable this setting they will no longer crash. This will occur with Vista and XP SP2. Anyone else seeing this or know of a solution? Thanks, Todd

Hi all, We develop an COM Add-in for Outlook 2000 and XP. When user clicks 'Send', our COM Add-in will make a copy of the mail and deposit in another folder for further background processing, and discard the copy being displayed on screen. We make a copy because we can't move it to the intended folder. WITHOUT Word as the mail editor, the following steps work fine 1. on m_oMailItem_Send, we make a copy of the mail and deposit into another folder 2. after that, we will m_oMailItem.Close (olDiscard) to discard the copy; but beginning Office XP, we have to do m_oApplication.ActiveInspector.Close(olDiscard) due to some strange OLXP behavor. 3. otherwise, we allow the mail to be delivered normally Basically the approach works fine in Office/Outlook 2000 and XP without using Word as editor. And furthermore, in Office/Outlook XP, the COM Add-in seems to work for 'Word as email editor' since we now have an Inspector for Word (which is not the case for Office/Outlook 2000). But Word crashes after the 2nd step above. And a search to Microsoft site confirmed the problem, even though it is documented as Application_ItemSend. ---- OL2002: Word Stops Responding When You Close a Message Item in the Application_ItemSend Event http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=327592 ---- We shifted the code around to Application_ItemSend and true enough the same behaviour (Word crashing after step #2) exists. We got the so-called patch applied but still the problem persists. It seems to us that there is a re-entrant problem, because we note that m_oMailItem_Close is invoked as a result of step #2 even before step #2 is completed, i.e. while we're still in the MailItem_Send context, the MailItem_Close event is invoked and completed. Despite all this, it does work fine for Office/Outlook 2000, of course that is without Word coming into the scenerio. My questions now are 1. Does anyone have any idea how to get around this problem of Word crashing after step #2? 2. Would anyone suggest an alternative to the approach we use? cs.

Spider Solitaire crashes
13 replies , 11/21/2005, 9:59:02 AM
I am using XP Home Edition, Build 2600 SP2, fully updated, on an Intel P4 3.2Ghz, with 1Gb of memory. ATI Radeon Xpress 200 graphics. Paging File is system-managed. When playing Spider Solitaire from the integral games pack, with an otherwise blank taskbar, and ONLY when playing Spider, I have been getting BSOD's, and crashes. Monitoring Task Manager whilst playing, I have found that at any point while playing the game, CPU usage will suddenly shoot up from between 0%-20%, up to 40%-55%. Even if at this point I exit the game completely, CPU usage continues at this level for a while until it climbs briefly to 100%, at which point Windows shuts down and I get the dreaded BSOD; DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have also seen this behaviour commence AFTER exiting Spider. The only escape is to reboot before CPU usage climbs to 100%. (Or of course to refrain from playing Spider, but I do not consider that a fair workaround!) I have tried copying and renaming Spider, configuring it to work in compatibility mode for Win 2000, with no improvement. Short of uninstalling Spider, any ideas, anyone?

Some games crash, some don't?

A while back I had a new HD fitted onto my machine and had XP Home put onto that. So, the only thing different about my PC is the O/S. Anyway, suffice to say, even after a lot of patching, defragging, virus checking, updating and so on, a lot of my games started crashing to the desktop. And I don't mean old games that aren't compatible with XP, either. These are new games such as Hal-Life 2, Painkiller and Farcry. I feel I should point out that other games seem to work fine, such as: Diablo 2, Tombraider 2, Civ 3, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and Thief 1 and 2. So what's going on? Most people seem to suggest overheating, but if that were true why aren't the above games crashing? Also, why does Farcry crash more or less instantly, whereas I can play Painkiller for a while and HL2 for even longer? Anyway, my CPU never goes above 60 (which I realise is a bit on the high side, but it was no higher on Win98 - ON THE SAME PC!). If it were something like bad RAM, then the above argument would still apply (nothing crashed on 98). By the way, let's get my sys-specs out of the way: XP Home with all updates apart from SP2 AMD 2600 512 DDR 3200 2 HD's with gigs of space SB Audigy 2 (latest drivers) Radeon 9700 (latest drivers but have tried a lot of others) MSI MB with all updates apart from BIOS (see below as to why) Nothing is overclocked! Yes, I suppose that updating the BIOS my help but IT'S THE SAME MB! Anyway, I would only risk a 'disk' update and not a 'windows' one in case something went wrong. Only I can't because my old internal FD was never recognised by XP so I had to by an external USB one and that will only be recognised as drive "B" not "A". S I haven't risked it, but I have tried the following (after consulting lots of old posts: Lowered AGP to 8 Put graphics to AGP Turned of sys-restore Nothing but essentials in background Turned off virus checker And quite a few other things! One last bit of info I can give you are the temps and voltage of my system (I use a utility from MSI to tell me this so I do not have to enter BIOS): CPU temp: 53 Sys temp: 42 FSB: 167 Vcore: 1.650 Memory Voltage: 2.60 AGP voltage: 1.55 3.3C: 3.22 +5v: 4.97 +12v: 11.42 Lastly, my chip (2600): 167MHz x 12.5 I am posting this message to quite a few groups (not cross-posting) because I really am at my wit's end now. Thanks for any help
