Bill, Limited user accounts are prohibited from altering files on the hard
drive, and games generally are set up to record such things as the user name
and scores. Take a look here:;en-us;307091

Thanks Chris for your reply and teh KB article. I was
pretty sure it would not work, but sometimes people come
up with workarounds. In this case, the listed workaround
my be acceptable to my friend.

Log reader
1 replies , 8/20/2004, 9:00:39 PM
Does anyone have any experience using log readers? Can anyone point me to a reasonably priced log reader? Here's the problem: someone deleted a hefty portion of a table which I have been able to recover, but the big boss woman is looking for a head for her silver plater. Thankfully mine is not an option, but she wants me to find out who - I assume in the information from a backed up log file [trn]. What is the best way for me to go about this? I was thinking Log reader, but now that I think about it, I am not sure if the log readers on the market will open a TRN. Any help would be appreciated. P.S. Any commentary about delete triggers or inadequate security mechanisms can be skipped for now, thanks.

Paste from Acrobat Reader
1 replies , 8/24/2003, 4:57:17 AM
I need a cell format that allows me to reliably paste from acrobat reader a small box of text in to excel so I can work with the sales numbers. Some of the time I <copy> from Acrobat reader and <paste> into a single cell OF EXCEL and the data is SPLIT automatically into individual cells and data that is a number is registered as a number. This is great and exactly what I want. However, sometimes the text remains together as text and instead of splitting into individual cells, only stays in a single cell in four seperate columns. This happens arbitrarily and without reason, even though I have copied the format of the cells that do this and used those same formatted cells for areas I can paste into. I know how to go to the Data column in the tool bar and select <text to columns> and go through that route. I will be asking many people to use this template - so I do not want to explain that method - Especially because EXCEL will automatically do this sometimes already. What are the format conditions that allow the text to be split automatically when I <paste> from acrobat reader? How can I reliably have others <paste> into Excel so I can have a template work with their sales numbers? ------------------------------------------------ Message posted from -- View and post Excel related usenet messages directly from -- Hundreds of free MS Excel tips, tricks and solutions at ------------------------------------------------

Entourage as a Usenet reader
2 replies , 5/15/2009, 11:06:19 AM
Know since I am out of school and not behind a firewall I can access Usenet via a client again as prior I could only access these groups via the web. Entourage seems okay, but there are better Usenet clients with way more features (Newswatcher, etc). Well anyways on to my question. 1. How can I send posts to multiple groups in Entourage without having to type them all in? -- Jer 2:13 (KJV) For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

Opening attachments with Adobe reader
2 replies , 11/12/2007, 8:27:16 PM
Using Entourage 11.3.6 (and Mac OS 10.5) I find that I cannot open PDF files within Entourage. I am presented with an error message that claims The file is damaged and could not be repaired. The same thing sometimes happens with Word documents as well. I deleted the Entourage Temp folder and restarted, but that didnt help. Yet, when I access my .Mac account through my browser or through Apples Mail software, I can easily open any attachment. Why cant I simply double-click on an attachment and have it open? Especially when the attachment is almost always created in another Microsoft application?

Entourage Newsgroup Reader

I am using Entourage 2008, and I have my view set to group messages by SUBJECT then DATE. My problem is this: I can't seem to find a way to "watch" or "mark" a particular thread in a given newsgroup. The closest thing I can find is to flag individual messages which is a big pain. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
