Oracle Packages in Server Explorer

Before switching to VS.NET we used vb 6 enterprise to
create front ends for oracle databases. We were able to
browse procedures AND package.procedures in the oracle
database. After switching to 2002 we noticed that
we were no longer able to use the visual database tools to
implement package.procedures, only stand-alone procedures
and functions. Our solution was: Use 2003 with the
new oracle specific drivers. Great was our amazement that
the problem still remained, no drag and drop ( and
parameter generation ) for oracle package.procedures !!!
Even when adding an OracleCommand from the toolbox and
configuring it manually, we still get an error.
The only way we get the package.procedures to work, is by
coding them manually.

Is there a way around this, or is the only possibility
coding the package.procedures manually ?

2 replies , 3/6/2007, 10:12:13 PM
I have tried to install the hotfix KB933146 several times, and everytime, I have received the message "The installation of this package failed". I have uninstalled tzmove, and re-installed it, and I still get the error message. I have repaired my Windows XP SP2 operating system, and I still get the error message. I have searched Microsoft help and Google, all to no avail. Please help.

I have Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage I have installed from an administative installation with the administative SP3 applied. I made all the latest non administative updates to my installation and now when I try to Detect and Repair (in Excel) I get the error: "Error 1731. The source installation package for the product Microsoft Office XP Professional with FrontPage is out of sync with the client package." What I can do to put them in sync? Thanks!

Access Application Packaging
2 replies , 10/8/2003, 8:28:46 PM
I hope someone can help me. I have developed an Access application and went through the "packaging" process. However, I can't copy the "package" to my floppy drive. I get an error message about there not being sufficient disk space. I'm sure there must be a way to "package" the application using consecutive floppies (much like the old "backup" command used to allow you to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanx.

Looking at DTS Local Packages
1 replies , 10/8/2004, 4:52:42 PM
Hi, Under SQL2000 SP3A any id can see the DTS local packages on a server. I assume this is because msdb has a guest id and it is in the public role which has explicit access to a number of objects in msdb. If either guest was removed from msdb or certain permissions were removed from the public role could I make the DTS local packages not accessible to all and would this cause a problem with running DTS local packages on a server? Package built by Packaging Wizard will not install
6 replies , 9/23/2007, 2:26:01 PM
I have recently installed the Office XP Developers suite (2002, all options) and am trying to distribute an Access 2002 database using the packaging wizard. As far as I know, all of my (it is all legal) office software is as up-to-date as it can be, including service packs and patches. The package seems to build ok, but whenever I try to run the setup to install the package (even on my own machine, XP Home, SP2), I keep getting the "...requires Windown NT 4.0 Service Pack 6..." error message. I tried the workaround by modifying the Ospfilelist.txt file, but the error continues. I have also tried the fixes in the following MS Knowledge Base articles: 305003, 837150, and 916176, with no success. And I have searched this forum (and others) for answers, but cannot seem to find anything useful, or at least that I recognize as useful. I am not new to Access, but am new at this packaging thing. AND I am at my wits end. Can you PLEASE help? Thank you!

BUG in Office 2007 package?
8 replies , 10/7/2007, 8:50:02 PM
Hi there, I did a research on the interent and I see that there are a lot of people (including myself) that are having problem with some applications after they have installed office 2007. Please don't tell me that I have to talk with vendor of the application to fix their software. This is absolutely NOT any application problem this is a BUG in office12 (office 2007). In my case I installed Logitech setpoint mouse driver and tried to run the Quicktour. I got a message that "MSVCR80.dll can not be found requested by .../office12/MSOXMLMF.dll". I thought that this is a Logitech software problem BUT IT WAS NOT. This is a bug in office 2007 package. I had Office Home and Student 2007 package I uninstalled it and voila! the Quicktour tab in the Logitech package start working. Is there any fix for this BUG IN OFFICE12 (2007)? Again this is not any vendor problem, THIS IS OFFICE 2007 BUG!! Thanks

MICROSOFT OFFICE 2000 - patch packages

My hard disc failed earlier this week and I was lucky to retrieve all my files to a new hard drive. Unfortunately however, my Microsoft Office Small Business 2000 is corrupt. I have tried to remove and repair this software, but it won't let me. I have also tried to reinstall it from the CDs and it won't let me do that either. The error message which keeps coming up is that it cannot locate patch packages and to verify they exist. I do not know what to do next. Can anyone help? Thanks Tony

When I insert the CD it gives me the message that "The language of this installation package is not supported by this system." I browsed several MS blogs and found a suggestion to Create a new text file and enter: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.0 "1033"=" Save this file as FixLang.reg, then double click on it and click OK to accept adding it to the registry. Suggestion was made by David Sterling, MS Gold Partner SharePoint Specialist, but it didn't resolve my issue. Can anyone help me? -- D

patch package error
0 replies , 6/25/2004, 1:43:46 PM
I have a windows XP machine that i am running office 2003 Basic on. I tried to open a .txt file and it said that it needed to install the converter. I said ok and it began to run Windows installer and then it said: "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." I did the exact same thing on an identical machine and it worked just fine. I tried to insert the CD and manually install the converter and it gave the same error. I have all administrative priveledges so i know that it is not that. I tried to email Microsoft but since it is an OEM version, i could not get their support center to work and my computer manufacturer has no clue what is wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciative because i rely on these .txt files. thanks in advance. Erik

Packaging a CD
1 replies , 9/7/2005, 10:26:01 PM
Windows XP. I am putting together a resource CD with various files on it. I would love to be able to package the CD so that when it is inserted, a menu comes up and allows the user to choose which file he wants to view. I know that the Windows Explorer does this, but I want an easier user interface where they do not have to look at folders and files, but can push buttons to view various pieces of the CD. I have seen this on some resource CDs I have that might look like this: o Read the Administrative Handbook o Read the User Guide o Install XYZ Program When the buttons are pushed, then the file or program is called. What could I use that is free or builtin to Windows or Office to do this? -- Dr. Doug Pruiett Good News Jail & Prison Ministry

This patch package could not be opened... error message
2 replies , 11/16/2008, 2:37:01 PM
Hi, I tried to post this a while ago, but it didn't appear to go. So I apologize if this ends up as a duplicate. I am trying to uninstall Office 2003 Pro on Windows XP Home Edition. I tried Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs, and got the error message: "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package". To make a very long story short, I tried the setup on my Office CD (same result). I rebooted and retried (same result). I found KB article 907749 and followed the instructions to reinstall Windows Installer (same result). I tried a registry cleaner (Pareto Logic RegCure) which found a lot of errors and says it corrected them, but I still can't uninstall Office and get the same message. I tried uninstalling a couple other programs that used Windows installer and they worked fine, so I focused on Office. I found KB article 295823, and it sounded like just the ticket. I downloaded the Clean Up Utility and ran it. After agreeing to the license, a few windows flickered past quickly and it appeared to be done (is that how it should look?). So I tried again (both Add or Remove Programs and the Setup from my Office CD) with the same result, and again after rebooting (same result). I found a number of similar posts in this discussion group, and it seems that the Clean Up Utility did the trick for most people. But I'm still stuck. If anyone has any suggestions for next steps in my scenario, please let me know. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thank you. Dan Nelson
