Monitor turning "ON" and "OFF" repeatedly

I'm working on an Excel 2000 worksheet with 29 columns and 65,000

The last process (replacing) took almost 3 HOURS to finish, during
which my monitor turned "on" and "off" repeatedly.  (When it would
turn "on",
the column/row number (in the "Name" box to the left of the Formula
Bar) would increment.

What's going on?

how to check if any repeated values

I have some values (around 20) such as 451 523 658 .... in a column. There shouldn't be any repeated values. How could I check whether there are any repeated values/numbers in the column? Thanks

Come to my rescue again! I have a Excel 2000 worksheet showing customer satisfaction results for our dealer network. I want to give each individual dealer his results on a radar chart that also shows the overall dealer network results � this way a dealer can see where he performs better or worse than average (N.B. the chart type must be a radar chart). Can some tell me how to do this without having to manually select the data for each dealer? If any suggestions involve using VB, please be aware that I am a complete programming newbie and will need a true idiot's step by step guide! There is an old post from Jon M. Peltier on 16 August 2000 (my birthday!)that was in response to a similar request but I don't know what to do with the code in his reply � i.e. where to put it and how to adapt it to my data (sorry!). I have a report that looks at some data for this month and the next 4 months. I am running into a problem in September where I need to have January of the NEXT year show up and not January of this year. The users of the sheet will select a month from an Input tab and then the report will populate based of of their choice. Any help would be appreciated.

I am repeating rows 1 through 4 and columns A through D. At least that is what I'm trying to do. On page two, the columns repeat but then the rows do not (beyond columns A through D). Is there a way to make it so that they both repeat? In re-reading the above, I'm not sure I'm making myself clear. Assume that XX's represent the repeating rows and ZZ's represent the repeating columns. Repeat top rows on page to the right

Hi, I have a two-page wide spreadsheet and would like to repeat both column A and the top 4 rows on the second page to the right. Column A works fine, and the top rows work in a header, but I don't want to use a header. I want to have formated cells repeat. Is there anyway to do this in Excel 2003 for Windows? In cell C2 I have a text entry, Installation Complete XA3C. I need to have repeat every 6 rows, in row 8, 14, 20,etc. Not sure how far down it needs to go, as that will be determined as the process is ongoing. Any way to automate entering this entry for possibly hundreds of rows? Thanks Paul

I got an excel file which has around 50k rows but should have around 25k rows - some have got duplicated somehow - the first column that I have is the ID which is unique - is there any way to delete rows having repeated IDs ? Hello from Steved Please How does one write a function so that if i put in cell A:1 5577 and I want to put 5577 in cell A:22 the function will do it for me, as the repeat last function does not seem to allow me to to do this operation. TIA

Entourage: i cannot delete mail. this comes in spurts. last bug: march, just started again yesterday.... i get the same mail over and over. it's worse this time. is anyone else having this occur? what is solution? thank you. heidi

Repeating Columns

Is there a way to repeat columns on each page (via Page Setup) without truncating the contents of the cells in the column that is repeated? i.e., On all pages after page 1, Excel only prints the contents of the repeated column to the extent that it fits within the coulmn width. Thanks

dependent drop down - repeat values

In the Contextures example for ‘Data Validation -- Dependent Dropdowns from a Sorted List’ what if there were several people with the same name from different regions? Can you make a ‘NameList ‘ and refer to it the same way as ‘RegionList’ and still have the dropdowns be dependent? I have three columns of data where values are repeated in each. This results in multiple drop down options on occasions where there should only be one. I greatly appreciate any advice you may have on fixing this. Dalgleish's website is great! Problem with the following imported data. I have account numbers in column A. Columns B, C, D contain data with multiple lines of data. (one to many relationship). Is there a function that will allow me to repeat the data in column A until the next cell contains different data.. and continue on as such? Example below. Shift+Tab used to reverse tab/indent, now it repeats last action - it acts like F4 . . . what changed?

There are two columns A1:A25 and B1:B25. The information in column A are dates. The information in column B are descriptions of activity performed on the date in the adjacent cell. If the same date is inserted into A1, A2 and A3 can the description manually typed into B1 be automatically added to B2 and B3? Added based on repeated and grouped cells in column A. Regards, Gary

If I have on my first row: (a)phone, (b)fax, (c)mobile, how do I get that on row 50 without actually typing it on row 50? Isn't there something I can type in the name box that will make it repeat on the rest of the pages when you do a print preview? Please help Thanks

Repeating background images

I added a background to an Excel spreadsheet. Unfortunately it repeats the image all the way to the bottom of the worksheet, making a 30K document about 3MB in size. How can I have it only display the image once immediately behind my content without repeating? If I cannot limit that, is there a way to force the worksheet to be only 100 rows long and 15 columns wide, eliminating the repetitive images simply by reducing the "physical" size of the worksheet? -- Steve Mullen

Pivot tables causing repeated crashes in 2008

I use pivot tables a lot, and am experiencing near-constant crashes on even small or medium size files, especially when more than one file is open. If I have to change a field or the data source in a pivot table on a large file, it crashes as well. This problem happens frequently no matter what else is going on. I have tried shutting down everything but Excel, rebooting in between just in case memory is corrupted somehow, you name it. I have also noticed how much slower pivot tables, complex calculations and VLOOKUPs are on this version - not sure if the problems are related. I have a MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM running the latest version of Tiger, and have not had trouble with FileMaker or anything else. I love the interface but am considering going back to 2004, as this problem is a huge time waster for me. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

This should be really easy, I am just terrible with excel. I want to set up a personal finance database. It is a very easy worksheet that just looks like this A B C 1| Date | Change | Result | 2| Initial 0 500 3| 5/24/06 30 530 4| 5/25/06 -45 495 So on and so forth. Now for C3 I wrote =SUM(C2,B3) and it gave me the right answer. However, how do I make it so that every cell in the C column it always adds the number above it to the number in the cell before it, without having to write the individual equation in every cell?

My manager has this query. He is entering the stock details of his phamacy. He has 6 columns. One is "name of the distributor", the second is "bill number or invoice number", the third is "amount to be paid", the fourth is "cheque number" the fifth is whether it has been "paid" or is "unpaid". The lst coumn I have given conditional formatting, so that if it is paid, it will show the fonts in green and if it is unpaid, it will show the fonts in red. Now our query is that after say about 50 rows of enteries made, he would like to know the moment he enters the bill no in the second coulmn, if excel can tell that this bill no has been enetered before? Like when you enter text excel repeats the entry so you can come to know, but it does not do that in number data type. I tried entering the numbers as a text data type, but no use ? Dr Alok Modi MD

Entourage repeatedly quits

Of late, Entourage (v. 12.2.3, on OS 10.5.8) has been unexpectedly quitting on me, throwing up an apologetic dialog requesting that I allow it to send a report to Microsoft and offering me the option to restart Entourage. Each time I follow through (send the report, restart Entourage). It's been happening at least twice daily for the past week or so. Why might this be happening? Should I run the database utility to check and/or repair the database? (FWIW, I have been keeping all of my emails for the past few years in separate folders within Entourage -- I have not "archived" them to my HD -- so the database is pretty large: about 6 GB.)

Dear all, I am looking to detect palindromes (sentence or number or other sequence of units that can be read the same way in either direction) and repeats (sequences of letters or numbers which are repeating atleast twice within a string) in some strings containing between 20-5000 letters. Has somebody any idea how could I perform that using an Excel macro? Hi, I am trying to create a to-do list. I want to be able to put in tasks and meetings that happen every week. At first I was putting a date 2/1/2005 (A24) + 7 and then dragging down. This worked great until I sorted by date and then all the dates were screwed up. I tried labeling the data, but then I can't drag down in a plus 7 format. Is there any formula that will use a fixed date but keep adding in increments of 7? sorry this isn't a very coherent question.
