Hi Dieter,

This question has been answered over and over again in the Macintosh Word
newsgroup. Take a gander in that newsgroup for your answer.

Office does not ship with a converter because a converter has not been built
that does a good job with converting. Details are here:

The closest you'll get to a decent conversion is using Dataviz MacLink.

My wife runs an eMac under Tiger and Office 2004 for the Mac. She has a number of WordPerfect documents that she is painfully converting to MSWord by reading them on a Windows machine with Office 2003, saving them as rtf, and then reading the rft into Office 2004. I imagine there is a better way. Any advice would be welcome.

Help! New to Word from WordPerfect

I'm switching from 20 years of WordPerfect to MSOffice2002. Have taken one slass for Office, but didn't seem to cover all the little things I run into daily when doing documents. #1 Is there a place anywhere that discusses/lists tasks from one program to the other. For example, in WP I used F3 to Save As, now I can use F12 in Word. I just need to make the switches. #2 In particular I'm having difficulty with numbered lists. I have four different main headings and would like for seperately numbered outline lists. I don't seem to be able to do this smoothly without continued numbering. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Convert Word to Wordperfect?

Is this possible? Have one user that has Word 2003. She emails word docs to another user that has WordPerfect. WordPerfect is unable to open documents. I believe it used to be possible in older versions of word to save documents in WordPerfect format. This doesn't seem to be an option in Word 2003 or am I missing something. Thanks, Have a good day!

I want to make sure it can convert possibly hundreds of files at a time, while preserving pictures formatting, and margins. Opening Wordperfect Documents

Is there a way to open Wordperfect documents into Word for the Mac? My partner has a PC, and using his version of Word he is able to open Wordperfect documents. This feature doesn't seem to be available for the Mac. Does Office 2004 offer it? Currently I'm using Office v.X, and running Panther v.10.3.3 as my operating system. Thanks. P.S. A detailed reply would be appreciated (us lawyers don't understand the computer jargon).

I am a medical transcriptionist who has been typing into WordPerfect for many years. Now it looks as if I'll be having to use Word to go with the flow, which is OK, Word works well, but I have all of my shortcuts (QuckWord, QuickCorrect and the dictionary) expanded in WordPerfect. Is there a way to transfer these files to be usable in Word? The dictionary is especially necessary as I have added probably thousands of medical terms into it and don't want to have to go back to looking all of these up again. Thank you for any help anyone can give. I just hope I can find this again when I finish to see if anyone has answered. -- Linda

Word 2003 - Saving in WordPerfect format
0 replies , 5/28/2004, 8:16:04 PM
During the install, all converters were installed. But when saving a document, the "Save as type" does not list WordPerfect as a choice. A variety of other formats display (XML, HTML, RTF, TXT, Works, etc.), but not option for saving in a WordPerfect format. I checked the installation and also re-installed Office.

Hi All! I'm using Word 10.1.4 for Mac to create "fillinable" documents. These documents will work in Word for Windows but they won't work in Works for Windows or Wordpad or Wordperfect. Is there a way to create these documents so that Works users (and Wordpad and Wordperfect) can use them? Thank you very much for your help! Diane Dennis

I am fairly new to the Mac community, having used Linux and before that Windows. I still have some old WordPerfect files that I would like to open. I would have expected them to be easily recognizable by Word v.X as they are at least 3 years old. However, Word v.X does not appear to support WordPerfect file types. Can any of you think of a way for me to convert these files? Thanks. Scott Medling kf6auf(at)hotmail

I converted a wordperfect document to word, because word is the only type of document that works in my Palm. When I tried to convert back to wordperfect so that I could work on the document, word would not let me. It is time to stop fighting with wordperfect and let those of us that much prefer wordperfect, to work with word also. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. Save as Wordperfect

Our court systems are requiring that we save our documents as Wordperfect. We are currently using Office XP. I've downloaded all the converter packs I can find and still nothing works. Any ideas? Thanks.

WordPerfect Viewer

We are making the move from WordPerfect over to Word, and would like to know if anyone is aware of a WordPerfect viewer that we can use to view old WordPerfect files after we make the switch to Word. We have found many Microsoft Word viewers, which are great for our WordPerfect users who haven't yet been switched over to Word (so they can view Word files generated by those who have made the switch), but a WordPerfect viewer would be really valuable for the long term viewing of old WordPerfect files...if only we could find one!

WordPerfect converter

Microsoft provides a WordPerfect converter which runs under Office 2002. It retains all the for small documents (under 500 kb) just fine. When I open a WordPerfect document over 1Mb in size, it has issues with the formatting and rearranges text, tables, etc. Does anyone know if this is a known issue? Is there something else I can do to work with WordPerfect documents while using Word? I installed the OCONVPCK.EXE but it has not helped. Thanks

Hi, we are switching from Wordperfect 10 to Word 2000/2003. I tried using Word to open the Wordperfect documents but I get an error saying that it isn't a valid file. Opening WordPerfect doc in Word

I do most of my typing in WordPerfect, but often need to save a WPDocs file in Word in order to send it to someone else. Today WordPerfect docs would not open in Word. I rebooted, but it still wouldn't open. When I click on WPDocs, the hourglass appears then quickly disappears, and nothing happens. If I try again, or try to close that window, I get a "Not Responding" message, and End Now, and Word closes. Never had this happen before. Any suggestions?

WordPerfect better lists
1 replies , 1/12/2006, 4:37:02 AM
WordPerfect has better Outline numbering e.g. You just type 1. [tab] then type if you are in the next level, e.g. a), you can hit [shift][tab], and it decreases indent and moves up one level - e.g. 1. Word is cumbersome and glitchy. I have Word 2002 Thanks for any suggestions ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. fractional widths and WordPerfect-style justification
1 replies , 10/20/2003, 5:17:58 PM
Can anyone tell me if Word for OS X still has the "Fractional widths" option on the Print preferences tab, or has this become obsolete? In Word 2001, I was trying out the "Justify like WordPerfect" option on the Compatibility preferences tab, as this is often recommended to improve the appearance of output for publication. On my VirtualPC Word, it worked great. In Word 2001 for the Mac, though, it prevented justification entirely, caused some letters to overlap each other, and actually transposed some letters! The only way I could make the justification work was to turn on "Use printer metrics" on that same tab, and turn off "Fractional widths" in the printers prefs -- but the result of that was awful beyond words. My thought is that, if Word X no longer has to deal specially with fractional widths, the WordPerfect setting might actually work. Any thoughts or experiences are appreciated.
